The team at Beechwood Homes have really outdone themselves raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation during this year’s World’s Greatest Shave which has them currently placed in 6th position on the Top Fundraising Teams National Leaderboard.

The events took place in 3 locations with professional hairdressers, Jasmine Anderson (of Jasmine Anderson Hairdressing) and Brooke Lowe (of Lil Redz Hairdressing) donating their time and expertise.

For team captain, Beechwood’s General Manager Wayne Barton, the charity lies close to his heart, “I recently lost my father to Leukaemia. In in his final days I watched a man who I love, respect and admire suffer as a result of this horrible disease. As I stood by helplessly, I thought, what can I do to help him and the many others that are in the same situation? All I can do is hopefully raise some funds for research for more effective treatments and support for other families who are facing a similar situation to my own.”

The staff of Beechwood Homes, from all across NSW, rallied around Barton and his family to show their support. The team of 19 who signed up to shave, cut and colour their locks raised a staggering $21,000 by the day of the shave, far exceeding their initial goal of $5,000.

Managing Director of Beechwood Homes, Vic Cavasinni generously offered for Beechwood Homes to match dollar-for-dollar all funds raised by the Beechwood Team by the day of the shave. Not only did he did  make this generous offer but he was also one of the members of the Beechwood Team who was brave and shaved his head.

Cavasinni stated, “I was so impressed with the efforts of all my staff, not just those who were brave but also those who gave generously and showed their support. It really does show that we are a tight-knit group. How could I not have the company support the team when the team supports the company?”

Contributing to Beechwood’s success were some of their suppliers: Beaumont Tiles, Trend Windows, Winnings Appliances, Antunes Lawyers, Austral Bricks, Nicsons Concrete, Costas, Savvas Leondas Enterprises Pty Ltd, Marando Solicitors, Redline Enterprises (Aust) Pty Ltd and Brickworks Building Products. Barton had also offered for the highest bidder to win the right to shave his head on the day. A bidding war between Beaumont Tiles and Trend Windows ensued, culminating with Beaumont winning the auction and shaving Barton’s head.

All in all, it was a great result for a great cause with the team raising a total of $48,214.44.
